My teacher and mentor, Robert Holden, teaches that we have four intelligences: intellectual intelligence (IQ); physical intelligence (PQ); emotional intelligence (EQ); and spiritual intelligence (SQ). Each of us has one we lean toward the most and one that gets our least attention, or don’t notice at all.

Take a moment and rank the order for yourself. Which is your natural go-to? Which is next? Then what? And which one don’t you pay much attention to?

This week I’m looking after a cat while her owners are on holiday. The cat is deaf. Even though she can’t hear me, we still communicate. For instance, she’s very vocal. A loud holler says, Where are you? My first instinct is to reassure her with words, “It’s okay. I’m right here.” Then I remember she needs visual reassurance, so I move into her eyesight (sometimes startling her though I try not to). I sit with her and gently stroke her head and back so she feels seen and heard and her needs are respected.

Even though you may be oblivious to one of your intelligences, it’s still communicating with you.

For instance, if IQ is your strength and SQ gets little or no attention, you can seek guidance in your life but rely only on your intellect to get you there. You may read all the how-to books, follow someone’s no-fail plan, create goals and new year’s resolutions, and set 5 and 10-year targets. Though these are all great strategies, if you don’t reach them or feel hollow when you do, it can be a sign that you’re missing something. However, that “something” isn’t outside of you. Perhaps you’re not making room for inspiration or unseen guidance that can allow for greater ease and flow. If you work hard but don’t feel on purpose, what are your heart and soul guiding you toward? Are you tuned in, or are you deaf to its voice?

Maybe you’ve reached your goals but you feel stressed all the time. Perhaps your PQ wants you to take more breaks and move your body so you can release tension.

Maybe you hit your 5-year target but it didn’t make you happier. Your EQ may be calling you to pay more attention to how you feel. What might you need to do or change to move in the direction of greater happiness?

We are these amazing creatures with so much potential. We have brains far above the capability of other species. Emotions to empathize with each other and the plights of the world. The physical capacity to achieve great feats and simple things, too, like the magic of a gentle touch or loving kiss. And we have within us a spirit that keeps us striving forward and dreaming bigger. Inner knowing that we are worthy and deserving of all we desire and within us is all we need to make it happen.

A fulfilling life is one in which you feel full inside – in your body, mind, heart, and soul.

When you pay attention to all of your intelligences, you feel balanced.

Notice how your life speaks to you. Align with what you desire and how you want to feel. And live your inner purpose in a way that works best for you.

Which of your intelligences are you turning a deaf ear to? How is it hollering for your attention right now?

As always, I’m here to help you. Click here to set up a time to chat.

Change is inevitable, yet we resist it. We’re afraid to try something new or go after something we long for. Sometimes change is thrust upon us, like the death of a loved one, divorce, or losing a job. Fear of the unknown can keep you stuck in place, often for years. Discover The Soul Collective’s higher perspective on how to get out of your own way, constructive ways to view change with examples that help you to release worry and fear, and how to get what you desire faster.
