“I am” are two small words that, when put side-by-side, carry great power.
Simply speaking, “I am” evokes the “God frequency.” Which is to say, whenever you say “I am ___,” you are making a declaration of who you are in your essence. And who you are in your essence is made of God / Spirit / The Universe / Oneness / Universal Love, of which your Soul is a part. And you are the human manifestation of your Soul.
For every “I am,” you essentially declare to yourself, your Soul, the Universe, and/or the God of your believing, that you believe yourself to be just that. And your life experiences reflect your beliefs.
What do YOU attach to “I am”?
Start noticing your thoughts, inner dialogue, and the words you speak about yourself.
Also, notice how your “I am” declarations make you feel.
Empowered or disempowered?
Uplifted or deflated?
Proud or self-loathing?
Feel the difference between saying, “I am so stupid,” versus “I am so smart.” “I am such an idiot,” versus “I am learning every day.” “I am always behind the eight ball” versus “I am working at my own pace.”
During my end-of-year/New Year practices this year, I was guided to do a new exercise, which was very empowering and inspiring. I think you’ll like it, too.
Here’s what you do…
For every letter of your name — first, middle, and last names — claim something positive that you know you are or aspire to be. Try to let the words arise from within, rather than trying to “think” of a good word. Say “I am” as you choose each word to anchor the truth of who you are into your awareness. If you have duplicate letters in your name, choose a new word for each letter. For example, for my first name, I wrote:
C: conscientious
A: aspirational
R: rational
O: optimistic
L: loving
I: intuitive
N: natural
This practice is especially powerful because, not only are you tuning into positive and affirmative words that express who you are, but each word is tied to your name, which has been with you since birth.
Your name is a part of you.
It has an energetic resonance with your Soul.
When you introduce yourself and say, “I am [your name],” you’re essentially introducing your unique Self. Therefore, every word on your list will have an energetic resonance to your Soul.
If you’ve changed your name at any time, i.e., when you got married, try this exercise using your birth name, too. You may feel it has even more resonance. And, you’ll end up with even more empowering words.
Once you have your list of words, use them as “I am” affirmations.
This will help anchor in the truth of who you are and the greatness you were born with and came here to be and express.
Read over your “I am” affirmations every morning when you wake up, before you go to sleep, in the middle of the day, and anytime you need a reminder of who you really are.
Give it a try.
You’re greater than you think you are.
It’s your time. And it’s your turn.
