Think of one area of your business or life in which you’d like to see improvement.
Now imagine I said to you, “In order to get that, you need to play bigger.”
Notice what just happened…
Did you feel a tightening in your chest or stomach (or both)?
Do you feel a little sick or afraid?
Are you thinking, “I don’t want to play bigger. Playing bigger means ___[fill in the blank]___ and that scares me.”?
Playing bigger triggers thoughts of having to show up differently: harsher, bolder, braver, more confident. Maybe you feel it will require you to speak in front of audiences, protest, work harder, hustle more.
Do you believe that in order to have the success you desire in your business and/or life, you need to play bigger — it’s the only way you’ll reach your goal?
Is there a part of you that feels somewhat ashamed that you’re not playing bigger while at the same time, you don’t want to play bigger if it means xyz…?
I call this the push-me-pull-you of desire and fear. (Remember the two-headed llama from Dr. Doolittle?)
You’re pulled by the desire for something more, better or different yet fear is pushing you back.
The result: you stay in place with a yearning heart.
Let’s reframe this…
Think about the same area of your business or life in which you’d like to see improvement.
Now imagine I said to you, “In order to get that, you need to play from bigger heart.”
Notice what just happened…
How do you feel in your chest or stomach (or both)?
Do you still feel a little sick or afraid?
Are you thinking, “I could play from a bigger heart. Playing from a bigger heart means ___[fill in the blank]___ and that feels good to me.”?
Playing from a bigger heart allows you to still be you.
Playing from a bigger heart allows you to be more of who you already are.
It’s about showing up from a place of love with a desire to help and make a difference versus showing up worried you’ll be judged or not good enough.
While it still may require you to step outside your comfort zone, you actually WANT to do it because you’re aligned with your heart’s desires.
You’re literally being pulled by love into loving action.
Feel into this question for a moment:
How can I play from a bigger heart today (with my kids, my spouse/partner, my clients, on my social media page, my life, my business, and — most importantly — for myself)?
I invite you to make this a daily question and see what happens.
