So often in our businesses and lives, we try to figure things out. We look for the right way to do things then worry we’re doing them wrong. Often we feel we’re not putting in enough effort and need to work harder. That it’s our fault if things aren’t going the way we want them to. We get stuck in a rut, doing the same things yet still expect that, somehow, we’ll get a different result.

What if instead of trying to effort and think your way through, you tuned into wonder?

The moment you say, “I wonder…,” you shift from your analytical brain into a space of possibilities (my favourite word).

Being in wonder allows for new ideas to find you. Different paths and opportunities start to open up before you.

Lately I’ve taken this concept even further by adding curiosity into the mix.

Instead of being in wonder, I go into curious wonder.

What’s the difference?

One definition of curious is to be “eager to know or learn something.” So when you’re in curious wonder, not only do you open yourself up to new possibilities, you’re now watching for them.

Being in wonder can be passive. “I wonder how money will find me today?” You sort of drift off into a dreamy state. Not that there’s anything wrong with that — do that too.

However, being in curious wonder opens you to any and all possibilities thereby allowing them to come as inspirations, new ideas, new people… while adding a layer of active observation. You’re open and eager to find them.

It’s like a treasure hunt or going through your day curious to see what gifts you’ll be presented with. There’s a childlike excitement about it.

You’re open to the possibilities while being conscious of how they’re showing up. You notice the serendipities and smile at the co-incidences because you know why they’re occurring — you’re allowing them in.

I wonder what serendipities are awaiting you this week?

When they happen, shoot me an email and let me know. I’m really curious. Are you?
